Chargers must be sore losers

Remember back last year in the playoffs when the New England Patriots beat the San Diego Chargers and the Chargers (especially Ladainian Tomlinson with his crying and not wanting to shake hands after the game) complained that the Patriots celebrated too early or they celebrated on the Chargers logo. Well it seems they're going to make stuff up again. According to this article on AOL.com, it says that Chargers center Nick Hardwick said that Patriots Richard Seymour head butted a Chargers assistant before Sunday's game. They even have a video where it "supposedly" happens. Watch the video below around the 2:46 mark, and you'll see Seymour talking trash and getting in the face of a Chargers player and a Chargers staff member/coach, but there is no head butt.

Wow, it just seems everyone is trying to do anything they can to get the Patriots off their game. I don't think it will work though.

Movie blogging: Cloverfield

Well I got to see the new movie Cloverfield, which I have been wanting to see since I saw the previews on television and online. I have to say that I was a little disappointed, but I did enjoy the movie despite the way the film was shot, which is in first-person camera view. So at times it was hard to tell what was going on. You didn't (or at least I didn't) get a good view of the movie's monster until near the end of the movie, which I thought was a cool scene. I think that the movie would have been much better if it was in third-person view rather than the first-person view.

I remember reading somewhere that there will be another Cloverfield movie coming out, but it will be based on the same time period but from a different person's perspective.

Jill Marie Jones interview on Essence

I saw this interview on Essence.com with former Girlfriends star Jill Marie Jones and thought I would talk about it here in case others are wondering what she is doing now since she left the popular show. She is now working in a few movies, you can find out which ones by reading the interview. Jill Marie Jones also tells us that she didn't leave the television show Girlfriends because of money, but because she wanted to do movies. Well I wish her the best in whatever she does and I do miss her being in the Girlfriends show. Honestly I haven't watched the show since she left because the show seemed so much more interesting and fun with her character in it.

Movie blogging: First Sunday

My wife and I saw the new movie First Sunday and we both thought it was a good funny movie. There are racial jokes but my wife and I still thought that the movie was funny. Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan are both funny in the movie but I have to say that Katt Williams is the funniest as in all of his scenes he's cracking a joke. If you like comedy and don't mind almost 'over the line' jokes then I think this is a must see movie for you.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady seen with a cast on

I just saw the pictures on BostonHerald.com of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady with a cast on his right foot.

A video taken of Brady in New York yesterday, which is available on TMZ.com, shows the NFL's MVP returning to girlfriend Gisele Bundchen's apartment. He's dressed in dark glasses and a black hoodie with a coat over it, walking gingerly on the sidewalk after emerging from a black SUV parked on the street.

The walking cast clearly is visible below the denim jeans he is wearing. He has a white sneaker on his other foot. The video has him carrying a bouquet of flowers, slowly moving up the steps to Bundchen's West Village apartment.

During his weekly appearance on WEEI's "Dennis and Callahan" show, Brady didn't dismiss the notion he had suffered some type of leg injury during Sunday's AFC Championship win over the San Diego Chargers.

Hopefully Brady is not seriously hurt and he is able to play in the Super Bowl and play well. Even if he has a minor injury it could still affect his throwing as the article points out.

Today is MLK day

As I do every year since I started this blog I acknowledge when it's Martin Luther King day, as we should all acknowledge and honor King. I saw the article "Tributes to MLK tend to ignore his complexity" on MSN.com and I thought it was an interesting read.

One of the many points the article makes I will touch on:
"We're living increasingly in a culture of top 10 lists, of celebrity biopics which simplify the past as entertainment or mythology," he said. "We lose a view on what real leadership is by compressing him down to one window."

This is so true as many people look up to the wrong type of people such as celebrities, entertainers, and others in Hollywood when they should be looking up to people who do good or have done good in history. It's so bad that even a celebrity is governor in California, which is a joke in my opinion.

Patriots in the Super Bowl again

My favorite NFL football team, the New England Patriots, are going back to the Super Bowl again. They will be playing against the New York Giants in this years' Super Bowl. Today the Patriots beat the San Diego Chargers 21-12 and the Giants beat the Green Bay Packers 23-20. Of course my prediction for the Super Bowl will be that the Patriots beat the Giants in the Super Bowl. Can the Patriots keep their record perfect? We will have to wait and see.

Second Life camping bots

I play the 3-D online virtual game Second Life occasionally when I have free time, but mostly to play virtual hockey. I do camp in Second Life sometimes to get some free money. I heard about people using camping bots to camp and get free SL money but I wasn't sure how that worked. I found the FreeHands site, which has a free download-able alpha version of their bot to use to camp in SL. I am interested in this but I wasn't sure how safe it was to download, install, and use. Has anyone used this bot? If so, leave a comment and let me know how it works.

Spider-Man and Mary Jane no more?

I saw this on Yahoo!'s home page and thought I would blog about it. It seems that Marvel Comics is going to erase Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson's marriage in the Amazing Spider-Man comic.

From this USA Today article:
In Amazing Spider-Man #545 last week, Peter and Mary Jane make a tearful deal with the devil-like character Mephisto: In exchange for saving Aunt May's life, Mephisto erases all traces of the Peter-Mary Jane marriage from memory.

In the issue out this week, subtitled Brand New Day, Peter Parker returns to his roots — young, nerdy and single. Aunt May is alive and well and Mary Jane is again just part of the cast. The marriage never happened.

Now I have never been a huge comic book fan but I've always liked Spider-Man and I think this is somewhat wrong to do now. It seems other Spider-Man fans are also upset over this.

Change timezone for PHP

It's now 2008 and this will be my first post for '08. I hope everyone had a happy New Years day.

I few months back I was building a site using PHP and I wanted to put the time in EST form in a hidden input element for a form I was building, but the web hosting server was located in western US so the time was being displayed in WST form. So I looked around for a way to somehow get the time to display in EST form but I couldn't find a solution then.

A few days ago I found a solution to this problem I was having. So now I able to have the time display in EST form in a hidden input element for my form. I hope this helps others who are having this problem.

PHP Code:

putenv("TZ=US/Eastern");
$time = time ();
print date("l, F jS, Y",$time) . " @ ". date("g:i A")."\n";

I can't take credit for finding the solution I needed, I found it here. If you want to change the time to a different time zone other than the eastern time zone, check the site, they give a list of timezones.
