Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon trailer

Here's the trailer for the upcoming Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon movie. The trailer doesn't show much but it looks like it'll be a good one. Director Michael Bay has stated that this will be the last installment in the series. This new movie will be in theaters July 1, 2011.

The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There's new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime Transformers character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

AMC The Walking Dead episode 6

Pre-order The Walking Dead: Season One now! Season one of The Walking Dead ended Sunday night with episode 6. If you haven't yet seen episode 6 don't read on. *Spoiler alert* So episode 6 named "TS-19" starts with them showing back during when things go wrong, as they show Shane in the hospital trying to take Rick out of the hospital but soldiers appear to be killing hospital staff and walkers/zombies that are trying to get into the hospital. After an explosion the hospital equipment shuts off and Shane tries to listen for Rick's heartbeat but doesn't hear it so he leaves the hospital, but not before blocking the doorway with a stretcher.

Then they come back to the present with the group going into the CDC building and meeting with the scientist there. They talk to the scientist about what is going on but he doesn't have much more info about it. The scientist goes a little mad, locking everyone in the building as it's about to decontaminate itself, which means it will explode in thirty minutes. Rick finally talks sense into the scientist to open the door and they break their way out, but not before some decide to stay behind. Some do change their mind and join the rest of the group in the vehicles. Before Rick left, the scientist whispered something into his ear. I wonder what he said to him. The episode ends with the vehicles driving off. So will next season start with the group heading to another city? This series has definitely been my favorite TV show this year. I don't watch much TV except for sports but this show kept be interested and coming back for more. Season 2 doesn't start until October 2011. That's a long time to wait but well worth the wait if they make it as good as they did in season 1.

The video below is a good watch as they talk to the characters and go through the episodes.

AMC The Walking Dead episode 5

Tonight I was able to watch Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead. Don't read on if you haven't seen episode 5 yet. So in episode 5 the survivors bury those who were killed in the last episode, we find out that Jim was scratched by a walker/zombie, the group decides to follow Rick's instincts to go to the CDC to look for anything. On the way there Jim tells them to leave him as he is getting sicker. They leave him and get to the CDC where there are lots of dead bodies on the ground. There's what looks to be a scientist in the CDC building alone and he looks like he may be going a little crazy. At first he won't let the survivors in but he eventually does. And that's basically where it leaves off. We'll see on Sunday what this lone scientist is up to and if he can explain what's going on and how all of this started. You can watch a preview for Sunday's episode named "TS-19" here.

If you missed any of the episodes, you can buy the episodes for $1.99 on and watch them on your computer. also has The Walking Dead graphic novel series in books available. Maybe someone you know is a fan of The Walking Dead and this may be a good Christmas gift for them.

Make element stay visible when scrolling solution

I wanted to find a way to make an element move down the page and stay on the screen when a user scrolled down the page. So I searched Google and found this jQuery solution that William, on, created himself. It's a nice solution if you have this issue that you want to take care of on your site. So big props to William. AMC The Walking Dead episode 4

Last night was episode 4 of AMC's The Walking Dead series, the 4th of the 6 episodes that will appear this season. Only two episodes are left this season! It's going to be a tough wait until next season. *Spoiler alert: Yesterday's episode was another interesting episode. The 4th episode continued with the four guys looking for Merle, but they end up running into another group of survivors and things get a little troublesome. On their way back to the camp site, the truck they used to drive to the city was missing and they suspect that Merle took it. They go on foot back to the camp site to only find it being attacked by the dead. Some survivors die but most survive. I won't name any names to not ruin it for those that haven't seen it yet and are reading this.

From reading the comments from the 4th episode, it seems in the comic books, everyone is already infected, it's only when someone dies that they turn into a walker/zombie. Hence the title of the series, The Walking Dead.

Here's a video of a sneak peek for episode 5 named "Wildfire". If the video isn't displaying you can go here to view the video.

Green Lantern movie trailer

I've never read the Green Lantern comic book so I didn't know what it was about besides him being a superhero. I watched the trailer for the new upcoming Green Lantern movie and it looks good. The movie will be in theaters in June 2011 with comedian Ryan Reynolds as the main character. Check out the trailer below.

New Cowboys & Aliens movie

I've never been a fan of cowboy or western type of movies, except for the movie Tombstone of course, but I saw the trailer for the new Cowboys & Aliens movie coming out in 2011 and I have to admit that it looks interesting. The movie is based off a graphic novel. Daniel Craig, the current James Bond, and Harrison Ford are in this movie. You can watch the trailer below.

ABP: Reloaded to come out next year

In a previous post, I found out that the APB: All Points Bulletin game may be coming back and going free-to-play. Well today I read that it will be re-launched next year as a free-to-play game, and it will be renamed to ABP: Reloaded.

Some info about the changes coming to the new ABP game:

"APB was a game that had several exceptional features and some brilliant ideas, even though it was plagued by some initial balance and monetization issues," Bjorn Book-Larsson, CTO and COO of GamersFirst, said in a statement. "We want to take all the unique features of this title, such as its unparalleled character, weapon and car customization systems, and convert the game to a true free-to-play game."

Some more notes about the upcoming changes:

When asked about the major ways the new revenue model would improve APB, Book-Larsson said it would solve two of the chief complaints many gamers had about the game. First, no one will be buying game-time in "chunks," which should cut down on the number of people who drop the game because their friends stop playing, and secondly, the micro-transaction model will help with balancing issues.

"If you joined the game, you'd end up getting shot by people with guns that you couldn't get," Book-Larsson said. "That's not really a good retention model. So we're going to change a lot of the balancing components."

In the new APB, players who would rather not grind for a long time will be able to buy 30 day leases on guns that will be comparable to the weapons "hardcore" players gain through hours of hard work. "It's not the same gun," Book-Larsson said. "But it's similar to what you're being shot with by the other people... Our goal is to make it so that free players who refuse to pay still have a decent experience, but those who do micro-transactions, and buy these micro-transaction guns, get a little bit of an edge."

AMC The Walking Dead episode 3

Sunday night I watched episode 3 of AMC's The Walking Dead series and thought it was another good episode. Not a lot of action but more of getting to know the characters a bit more.

*Spoiler Alert* Don't read on if you haven't seen episode 3 yet. Here's a quick summary of this week's episode: Rick finally meets up with his family; Merle, the racist, is still handcuffed on the roof; Merle's brother returns to the camp and is pissed that his brother was left on the roof; Rick and three others go to try and save Merle; we find out that Shane told Rick's wife that Rick was dead, so Rick's wife isn't really a cheater after all; besides a racist in the series we now have a wife beater named Ed and Shane beats him up after Ed assaults his wife; the four who went to find Merle get to the roof and get the chains off the door to only find a hand on the roof and no Merle.

So the question is did Merle cut off his own hand to escape? Was that Merle's hand? Some pointed out in episode 3's comments that there wasn't any blood on the ground so it could have been a geek's hand (geeks are considered zombies in this series, yeah I don't get that either). But whose hand would it be if it wasn't Merle's hand? The door was still chained so it had to be Merle's hand. Maybe the producer or whoever forget to add blood on the ground? If Merle did saw off his own hand, where did he go? Did he jump off the roof and commit suicide? It would be tough to climb down with only one hand. Was there a fire escape? I guess we'll find out in the next episode.

If you're looking for The Walking Dead items for holiday gifts or just to buy, has tons of stuff, from the books to ordering Season One on DVD (see above), although the DVD is not available yet at the moment.

In the preview for next week's episode, it looks like the four who went to search for Merle run into other survivors but they don't look friendly. I'll see if I can find the preview video for next week's episode.

Here's a sneak peak video from Episode 4 named "Vatos"

All Points Bulletin game may go free-to-play

The APB: All Points Bulletin game may be making a comeback and it may be free-to-play. I did sign up to play this game when it came out but then I found out it was pay-to-play and a huge download so I changed my mind. But if this game does go the free-to-play route I think I will try it. Hopefully my computer can handle it though.

As reports, now that K2 (War Rock and 9 Dragons) owns the rights to APB, there's a chance the failed online multiplayer game, which was officially shut down this past September after being live for less than three months, might be back up and running by year's end. Whenever it does go live, it appears that APB will abandon its subscription/micro-transaction model in favor of free-to-play.

AMC The Walking Dead episode 2

Sunday night I watched the second episode of the new The Walking Dead series and I enjoyed it, even though I thought the first episode was better. *Spoiler Alert* Don't read any further if you haven't seen the second episode yet. There were some parts that I didn't like about it, but that's just my opinion, and some others stated them as well in the comments of the second episode thread.

The first thing that caught my attention was when some of the zombies had large rocks in their hands and we're trying to smash through the glass doors of the store where the group were hiding out. Anyone who has seen most zombie movies knows zombies don't use tools, but it's not a big deal I guess.

The second thing was when it was raining and Rick and the other guy were walking to the truck and the "zombie smell" or "dead smell" washed off of them, the zombies started to run after them at first. Zombies don't usually run.

The third thing was when Rick and the other guy climbed the fence and got over it to get into the parking lot and to the truck. Only one zombie followed and climbed the fence and got over it. I found it odd to make a zombie have agility and the ability to get over the fence. But if one does it, then why not more of them? I thought that was odd.

Besides these things, I think it's a great show and I'll be tuning in next Sunday to watch the next episode. Did you watch the second episode too? What did you think? There will be a second season. Nice.

Old X-Men arcade game making a comeback

Wow I remember this old X-Men arcade game back when I was a kid. Now it looks like they're making the arcade game available on the Xbox 360 in December. When I was younger, during the summer my parents signed me up with a place called the "Little House" which was down the street from where we lived. Don't ask, I have no idea why it was called that lol. It was kind of like a neighborhood day watch program for kids during the summer.

Anyways on some of the day trips we would go to a beach or amusement park. Of course the amusement parks had arcades there and I remember I would spend most of my time in there wasting my money on playing games lol. I still remember fun times playing that game as I always tried to play as Wolverine when I got a chance to play. When I ran out of money I would watch others play it too. It was the game back then. If you have never played it before here's a video of the gameplay action.

You'll choose between a handful of the classic X-Men including Wolverine, Cyclops, Nighcrawler, Collossus, Storm and Dazzler in your battle against Magneto and his band of Sentinels and brawling alligator-people. Don't expect any new characters, levels or bosses, as the game is ported directly from the original version, except with a noticeably nicer menu screen. That said, all the same fisticuffs action remains with wave after wave of enemies pouring from various portals and doors.

Battlefield Play4Free coming in 2011

Today EA announced that they'll be making a new free Battlefield game which will be released in the spring of next year.

The publisher announced this morning it's working on a more realistic FPS to complement its year-old free online arcade shooter, Battlefield Heroes. Battlefield Play4Free is set to go live in spring 2011.

Featuring 32-player online battles, advanced graphics, and the franchise's signature vehicular warfare, Battlefield Play4Free will combine the most popular maps from 2005's Battlefield 2 with the classes and weapons from the franchise's most recent retail title, Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Here's a teaser trailer for the game.

New Man vs Second Life video

If you play Second Life then you've probably heard of the original popular Man vs Second Life video created by a Second Life user. Well the same user has created a second video and I think it's just as funny as the first video. Check it out below, let me know what you think.

AMC The Walking Dead episode looked good

Sunday night I watched the premiere of new The Walking Dead series on AMC and I enjoyed it. Even though I don't really like horror movies, I'm a fan of zombie movies and video games (Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, Dawn of the Dead are the ones I can think of right now), I enjoyed this episode.

Here's a quick summary of the series:

The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the country in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group's desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive.

I was looking through and reading the comments people were posting on the official episode page where anyone can discuss the episode while it played live and it was open for discussion after the episode too. It seems lots of others enjoyed the show too. From reading the comments I found out that this series is based on a comic book (which is currently on issue 78). This series will only have six episodes in season 1. If the show's producers are going by the comic book, well from the comments, it seems the comic book never went into details about how the zombie situation started.

The Walking Dead even has its own Facebook fan page. If you watched the episode last night let me know what you thought of it. If you didn't see last night's episode make sure to check out next Sunday's episode.

I saw the previews for next week's episode and it looks like part of it takes place in a store or a mall of some sort. I wonder if they got any ideas from the movie Dawn of the Dead or the video game Dead Rising. It should be another interesting episode.

Showing image EXIF data with PHP

Today I had an issue that I didn't know how to solve, until I searched the web. I wanted to pull the EXIF data that images contain and display it on the page. Mainly I wanted to show any copyright data.

I found this blog post on which helped me a lot. Looking at the post, I came up with the below to show the copyright of an image:

$image = "/path/to/image.jpg";
$exif = exif_read_data($image, 0, true);
foreach ($exif as $key => $section) {
    foreach ($section as $name => $val) {
        if ($name == "Copyright") {
            echo "$val";

For the exif_read_data function to work, if you're using Windows, you need to go into your php.ini file, make sure both php_mbstring.dll and php_exif.dll are not commented out, and make sure that php_mbstring.dll is listed above php_exif.dll so it's loaded first.

If you wanted to show all of the image's EXIF data, in the blog post linked to above they show you how to do that.

Firefall, a free-to-play MMO shooter

GameSpy posted about a free-to-play MMO shooter that will be coming out near the end of 2011 named Firefall. It looks to be a game to keep on the look out.

Red 5 made the unveiling of its debut title at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle this afternoon, describing Firefall as a team-based action shooter that combines intense competitive multiplayer and large-scale co-op play.

Firefall paints a beautifully devastating vision of Earth 200 years in the future. The promise of a new clean energy source, Crystite, leads to the disastrous arrival of the Melding, a hostile energy storm that engulfs most of our home planet. Earth's surviving humans must band together in the eye of the Melding storm to save our species. Unfortunately, a new danger emerges as a bloodthirsty race known as The Chosen threatens humanity's survival.
Players will take on each other and The Chosen using the power of Battleframes, highly customizable armor that will allow gamers to specialize how they play the game.

The game will be completely free to play, with microtransactions available for upgrades and expansions.

Below are two videos of the game. The first is a cinematic trailer and the second is a gameplay walkthrough video. The game looks good and looks to have lots of shoot em up action.

New Unstoppable movie

Today I saw the trailer for a new Denzel Washington movie coming out, named Unstoppable. The trailer looked interesting but seems like they showed a lot of the action parts of the movie. The movie is about a runaway train which is carrying some hazardous chemicals, and it seems Denzel's character and the guy he is training are the only ones who can stop it. Watch the trailer below.

New Predators movie trailer

Here's a trailer of the new Predators movie coming out in July. This video is from the official site. This video shows more than the last video I posted about this movie.

How to download YouTube videos

I've been listening to lots of songs on YouTube recently, most recently listening to the instrumental songs from X-Ray Dog which are awesome. Anyways I read some of the comments while listening and it appears lots of people don't know how to download the YouTube video and then convert it to a MP3. So I'll walk you through that now. This is one of the ways you can do it, there are other ways as well and sites out there that can do it too. So here we go:
  • First download the latest Real Player, which is free, and install it
  • Have the latest versions of Internet Explorer or Firefox installed
  • Download and install WinFF
  • Go to YouTube and find the video you want the audio from
  • Mouseover the video and a Real Player overlay box should appear at the top right of the video that says "Download This Video", click that
  • A download progress bar will appear and after it finishes downloading, find where on your C drive it was saved to. The file(s) will be saved as FLV files (Flash video files)
  • Run WinFF
  • Drag the FLV files onto the WinFF interface or you can click "Add" on the WinFF toolbar and find your FLV files that way
  • In the WinFF program, find where it says "Convert To..." and in the drop-down make sure "Audio" is selected
  • Under that is the "Device Preset" drop-down, make sure to select "MP3"
  • Then you can select the "Output folder" meaning where you want the converted file to be saved
  • After all of that, you're ready to convert it, click the "Convert" button
  • A command prompt window will pop up and your file will be converted after about 30 seconds (the longer the video the longer the conversion process)
That's all you have to do to get audio from a video on YouTube. Leave a comment if you have trouble or have a question about this process. I hope this helps everyone.

New Mortal Kombat Rebirth movie

There's also a new Mortal Kombat movie that's being worked on but I heard it won't be coming out for awhile. Anyways from this preview it looks like it may be really good.

New Predators movie

There's a new Predators movie coming out on July 9th. It looks interesting and I hope the script is good. Watch a preview below.

My NHL Stanley Cup prediction

Wow I was terrible in my predictions last round too, going 0-2. So it is the Philadelphia Flyers vs the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup finals. The Blackhawks just won game 2 tonight and are up now 2-0 in the series. Even before this series started, I thought the Blackhawks would be able to handle the Flyers and win the Cup. In a previous blog post I even said whoever comes out in the West will win the Cup over the East. Go Blackhawks!

Movie blogging: Date Night

On Saturday my wife and I went to see the movie Date Night, which starred the Office's Steve Carell and SNL's Tina Fey. We enjoyed the movie very much and laughed throughout the movie. I recommend seeing this with your loved one or with the family. There is some violence and adult-related parts so I would recommend not to have really young kids around when watching it. If you haven't seen the previews for it, you can watch the trailer below.

Steam Portal game is free

With Steam now being available for the Mac, Steam is now offering the popular game Portal for free until May 24th. So for all the other Steam users out there, download your copy now. I have never played Portal before but I have heard it has won numerous gaming awards. You can read about it and download Portal on Steam's site here. The linked site (to the left) says that Portal has "won over 70 Game of the Year Awards" - that's just amazing.

My NHL playoff predictions for round 3

With the Boston Bruins losing game 7 in their series last night, the conference finals are now set. I did terrible in my second round predictions going 1-3. So now I'm going to pick who I think will win the conference finals.

Eastern Conference
(8)Montreal Canadiens vs (7)Philadelphia Flyers

Western Conference
(1)San Jose Sharks vs (2)Chicago Blackhawks

My Picks
(8)Montreal Canadiens vs (7)Philadelphia Flyers - Being a Bruins fan, it hurts to say this but I'm going with the Montreal Canadiens in this series. Halak is playing great and the little man Brian Gionta is scoring the big goals.

(1)San Jose Sharks vs (2)Chicago Blackhawks - This is a hard choice as both of these teams are good. I think whoever wins this series will go onto the finals and beat whoever comes out in the Eastern Conference. My pick is the San Jose Sharks.

My NHL playoff predictions for round 2

Well I didn't do great in my NHL first round playoff predictions going 4-4. I'm going to try again and predict the winners of the second round matchups in the playoffs.

Eastern Conference
(4)Pittsburgh Penguins vs (8)Montreal Canadiens
(6)Boston Bruins vs (7)Philadelphia Flyers

Western Conference
(1)San Jose Sharks vs (5)Detroit Red Wings
(2)Chicago Blackhawks vs (3)Vancouver Canucks

My Picks
(4)Pittsburgh Penguins vs (8)Montreal Canadiens - I'm going with the Penguins in this series. I don't know how Montreal made it this far.

(6)Boston Bruins vs (7)Philadelphia Flyers - Should be a hard fought intense series. I'm going with the Bruins.

(1)San Jose Sharks vs (5)Detroit Red Wings - I was wrong about both of these teams in the first round. The Sharks are showing me they can do it in the playoffs now, so I'm going to go with the Sharks.

(2)Chicago Blackhawks vs (3)Vancouver Canucks - This is a rematch from last year's playoffs and this is a hard choice as both teams are good. I'm going to go with the Canucks in this one.

My NHL playoff predictions for round 1

It's that time again, the NHL playoffs begin Wednesday night, and again I'll make predictions of each series and give my pick, of course I haven't done good in the past on these so don't bet anything on my picks. Here are the first round series and my picks:

Eastern Conference
(1)Washington Capitals vs (8) Montreal Canadiens
(2)New Jersey Devils vs (7)Philadelphia Flyers
(3)Buffalo Sabres vs (6)Boston Bruins
(4)Pittsburgh Penguins vs (5)Ottawa Senators

Western Conference
(1)San Jose Sharks vs (8)Colorado Avalanche
(2)Chicago Blackhawks vs (7)Nashville Predators
(3)Vancouver Canucks vs (6)Los Angeles Kings
(4)Phoenix Coyotes vs (5)Detroit Red Wings

My Picks
(1)Washington Capitals vs (8) Montreal Canadiens - I'm going with the high scoring Capitals in this series. Halak will keep Montreal in the series but Montreal doesn't have the grit and scoring that they need to win this series.

(2)New Jersey Devils vs (7)Philadelphia Flyers - I'm picking the Devils in this series as the Flyers don't have the goaltending to beat the Devils.

(3)Buffalo Sabres vs (6)Boston Bruins - This is a hard choice as I'm a Bruins fan but my gut is saying the Bruins just don't have the scoring to beat the Sabres. But with Rask playing the way he is anything is possible so I'm going to go with Boston with the upset in this series. It will be hard though as Ryan Miller has been playing solid all season. This series will probably go 6 or 7 games.

(4)Pittsburgh Penguins vs (5)Ottawa Senators - I'm going with the Penguins in this series as Ottawa has some injuries and the Penguins are just too good.

(1)San Jose Sharks vs (8)Colorado Avalanche - Will the Sharks finally get out of the first round or will the young Avalanche team cause an upset? I'm going to go with the Avalanche in this series and cause the Sharks to blow up the team in the offseason.

(2)Chicago Blackhawks vs (7)Nashville Predators - I'm going with the Blackhawks in this series as they have all the tools to go to the finals.

(3)Vancouver Canucks vs (6)Los Angeles Kings - The Kings don't have much experience in the playoffs (besides Ryan Smyth of course) so I'm going with the Canucks in this series.

(4)Phoenix Coyotes vs (5)Detroit Red Wings - This is a tough one as both teams are playing well. I'm going to go with the Coyotes in this series. They'll surprise everyone as they did during the season.

Action movies coming out this summer

There's a nice Yahoo! Movies article talking about some upcoming action movies that will be coming out in the summer. The four they talk about are: Salt, The A-Team, Knight and Day, and The Expendables. Make sure to check out the article and watch the video previews. The two movies that really caught my attention are Salt and The Expendables. I included their video previews below. Let me know your thoughts on these new upcoming movies.

Salt with Angelina Jolie

The Expendables with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and Jet Li (and looks like some scenes with Brucel Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger). You usually don't see movies with quite a few well known names like this one. Hopefully it is a good movie, but I'm expecting a mostly action shoot em up type of movie, which I like anyways lol.

Aliens vs Predator game review

Gamespot has a review of the new Aliens vs Predator game and they gave it a 5.5 score out of 10 which of course is not good. Two major things they said that were not good about the game were the controls and the design of the levels. If you bought this game let me know what you like and dislike about the game.

You can watch videos of this game in a previous post I posted about this game.

If you haven't heard yet, Google has released an updated version of their web browser, Chrome 4.0. The main new feature is extensions such as Firefox has for its browser. Also in the update is bookmark sync and it's performance is suppose to be faster. I've been using Chrome regularly now doing daily things like checking email and browsing the web and I find it faster than Firefox and IE. Also it doesn't slow down my computer as Firefox and IE do. If you haven't tried Chrome yet, check it out.
