The Walking Dead season 2 episode 1

Sunday night had the first episode of season 2 of AMC's The Walking Dead and I thought it was good. If you watched it too let me know what you thought.

*Spoiler alert: don't read on if you haven't watched it yet. Here's a quick summary of the episode. The group decided to leave Atlanta for Fort Benning. They eventually have to stop because the highway is blocked by cars. A hoard of walkers/zombies come by and causes some trouble as the group tries to hide underneath cars. The little girl Sophia is chased by two walkers and Rick goes after her. Eventually Sophia goes missing and the group searches for her. Shane is planning on leaving the group and going on his own. The end of the episode has Rick's son Carl walking slowly near a deer and then a gunshot is heard and the deer and Carl fall to the ground. Rick and Shane run to Carl and the episode ends. If you missed Sunday's episode you can watch the highlights on The Walking Dead site.

So no one from the group died but T-Dog cut his arm pretty bad, Sophia goes missing and Carl is shot. There were some parts that had me shaking my head asking why the characters were doing some of these things, as some others have pointed out on the internet. First, they choose to drive on the highway and they ran into a roadblock of cars. The characters get out of their vehicles and look around without much fear it seems and they even let the kids out and about. They don't notice the horde of zombies coming their way until they're really close. And weren't the zombies coming from the direction that they came from? If so, they would have drive by the horde and known that they were coming in that direction too. When T-Dog cut his arm, wouldn't the zombies be able to smell fresh blood and find him under the dead body that the other guy put on top of him to hide him from the zombies?
