The Walking Dead season 2 episode 3

Episode 3, "Save the Last One" of season 2 of The Walking Dead was on Sunday night and wow what an episode. That was the best episode so far in season 2. Spoiler alert! Do not read on if you haven't watched it yet.

In Sunday's episode it starts with Shane in the shower staring at himself in a dark kind of scary manner. I too thought I missed something as in the last episode Shane was inside the school with Otis, but it's just a look ahead as it goes back to the current time showing Shane and Otis running through the school away from walkers.

Carol is crying in the RV about Sophia still missing and no one can sleep so Daryl and Andrea decide to go look for Sophia at night which doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do.

Shane and Otis are trapped atop the gymnasium's bleachers with walkers below. They make a plan where Otis will run through the locker room to get the walkers to follow him which will let Shane escape through a window, which is 20 feet above the ground. The plan works but Shane hurts his ankle from the drop.

Glenn and T-Dog get to the farmhouse where Rick and Lori are at with Carl. T-Dog gets some medical help for his infected cut. Lori talks with Rick that it may be better for Carl to die rather than live in this new world.

Otis finds Shane and saves his life. Both guys appear out of breath, tired and hurt. They try to get away as walkers follow them.

Before Hershel begins to operate on Carl, Otis' truck returns to the farmhouse but only Shane is in it with the medical equipment. Shane tells Rick that the walkers kept coming and "He told me to keep going, so that's what I did, but when I looked back." Shane looks like he's been traumatized.

Daryl and Andrea return to the RV without Sophia. Carol cries some more. Dale gives Andrea her gun back and asks her if she forgives him. Andrea says she is trying to.

Maggie, Hershel's daughter, cries to Glenn about Otis and talks about all of those she has lost.

Hershel tells Rick and Lori that the surgery on Carl was success. Rick and Hershel then tell Patricia about Otis and she starts crying. Shane takes a look at Lori and Carl in the room and then leaves to go wash up upstairs. In the bathroom, Shane looks in the bathroom mirror and sees some scratches on his body and a patch of hair missing. He flashes back to him and Otis trying to get away from the walkers. Shane looks at Otis and says "I'm sorry man" and then shoots Otis in his leg. Otis falls to the ground and Shane fight over the medical supplies. Shane kicks Otis, Otis grabs onto Shane's hair and pulls some out as Shane punches Otis. Shane gets free with the medical supplies and leaves Otis there to get eaten by the walkers. Then Shane is shown shaving his head and then he stares at himself in the mirror.

This was a great episode and really makes you think if you were in Shane's position what would you do? Obviously Otis was the larger slower man and it looked like the walkers were gaining on them. They needed some type of distraction to get away from the walkers. Would you have done the same as Shane did? If Shane didn't do that I'm thinking that they both would have died there. Of course killing someone, or wounding them to be killed, is awful and bad but Shane is thinking about Carl, maybe as his own son, and needs to get him the equipment. One thing that will come up later in the series, maybe even the next episode, is Shane bringing back Rick's gun to Rick. Remember in episode 2, Rick gave Otis his gun and Otis said not to worry he would bring it back. Well with Shane bringing it back, it brings up some questions. How does Shane have the gun that Otis was using? When did Otis give it to Shane as Shane says that Otis told him to go ahead without him. It really puts Shane in a position to mess up his story/lies. As they were saying on the Talking Dead show, it seems that Shane is starting to lose it or he's adapting to this new world with no real morals. In the sneak peek video below you see Shane telling what happened and Dale listens with a confused expression on his face. Maybe Shane talked to him before and said something different? Oh I can't wait for next Sunday.
